Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership

This annual scholarship offers four $1,000 awards to undergraduate students who have demonstrated commitment and leadership in student government, student societies, clubs or organizations, student organizations at the provincial or national level, or non-profit community organizations. The recipient must have been enrolled full-time in the current academic year, be an Alberta resident and Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident. A separate application is required. This award is made possible by funding from the Government of Alberta.

Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship

This annual scholarship offers two $2,000 awards to students (undergraduate or graduate) who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially in the area of disability, and/or initiative to improve the conditions and lives of all people, while attending post-secondary studies in Alberta. The recipient must have been enrolled full-time in the current academic year, be an Alberta resident and Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Student of the Year Award

There are annual awards given to a student from the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, and a Faculty of Management! The recipient can receive $1000 if they demonstrated integrity, respect, and a servant’s heart in their interactions with people on campus. To be eligible, the recipient must be registered full-time in the Fall and Winter academic semesters and convocate in May.

Student of the Year Award – Environmental Health After Degree

Awarded to a Bachelor of Environmental Health After Degree student who demonstrates academic excellence (a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA on all EH coursework completed prior to the start of the practicum/research component); a commitment to community public health volunteerism (e.g. volunteering with a food bank, church, healthcare facility, etc.); and sustained engagement with the Concordia community by participating in the organization of events and/or activities (e.g. task leader, mentor, event assistant, CUE initiatives, etc.). The recipient will have completed all three semesters of coursework within one year (12 months) before applying for the award.

Student of the Year Award – Education Students Society (ESS)

This is an annual $1000 award to a student enrolled in Year Two of the Bachelor of Education After Degree. The recipient is someone who — over the two years of the program — has best shown a combination of commitment to children and the teaching profession, leadership skills, community service, professionalism, and school and program spirit while maintaining a minimum 2.7 GPA.

Chris Benedict Award

This award is given to an undergraduate who has a positive outlook towards school and life and has demonstrated perseverance while inspiring others to succeed in adversity. Eligible students must be registered as a part- or full-time student and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. The award is $1000.

Concordia Students Association Scholarship

This award is given to an undergraduate who has participated in student activities (clubs, associations, athletics) and has had a positive and significant impact on cpaus life. To win the $1000, the recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

CSA Health Champion Award

For this award, an undergraduate student was an advocate for mental health and wellness on campus or in the community. The student must be registered full-time and have a GPA of 2.7 while showing significant involvement in mental health and wellness initiatives. The award is $1000.

Gerald Woudstra Memorial Award in Business

This is awarded to a student enrolled in the Bachelor of Management degree program (BMgt). The recipient must present a GPA of 3.0, participate in the student activities related to the BMgt program, and demonstrate financial need. The award is $1000.

Mature Student Bursary

This is awarded to an undergraduate student that is at least 25 years of age (as of September 1st), presents a minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrates financial need.The award is $1000.

Walter Wangerin Scholarship

A student in an Arts, Management, or Science degree program with a declared minor in Education, can earn the $1000 scholarship. The recipient must be registered in 12 credits per semester, present a minimum GPA of 3.2, and be serving the teaching profession through volunteer or paid work.

Storewell’s Foster Children Bursary Program

Storwell’s Foster Children Bursary Program aims to provide former foster children and youth in care with additional financial support so that they are able to pursue their post-secondary education and work towards building a better life for themselves. The annual bursary is for $2,000 and can be used towards all educational expenses, including but not limited to, tuition fees. Concordia Students’ Association members who were once part of the foster care system and are currently enrolled as full-time students at the university are more than welcome to apply.
