Hello CUE!
February is an exciting month on campus. Not only are we celebrating Black History Month, but we also have a variety of events happening throughout February that give students a chance to connect, support one another, and actually enjoy being on campus outside of class. I really hope you take the time to stop by, participate, or even just check a few of these events out. While these aren’t the only things happening at CUE, making an effort to stay on campus helps create a more lively and engaging environment.
Also, don’t forget that Valentine’s Day is coming up this month, so make sure to treat your significant other (or yourself!) to something special.
February 01 – Black History Month
February marks the beginning of Black History Month, a time to recognize, celebrate, and learn about Black history, culture, and contributions. Keep an eye out for events and initiatives happening throughout the month in honour of this important celebration. Updates on events will be posted on the Instagram page @ourcsa and on posters throughout the school.
February 04 – Black Market
This event starts at 10 a.m. and is a great opportunity to support the Black Students’ Association and the event organizers. The Black Market brings together vendors and creatives, and it’s the perfect excuse to stop by, browse, and show your support. Even a quick visit can make a big difference. The Black Market event is dedicated to uplifting and celebrating Black-owned businesses, creating visibility for Black entrepreneurs, and offering students meaningful opportunities to learn about and engage with Black cultures. We invite our campus community to come out, support local vendors, and be part of a vibrant and empowering experience.
February 11 – Free Booster Juice
Free Booster Juice will be available starting at 12 p.m., and this is one event you definitely don’t want to miss. Not only is it a healthier option, but it’s also completely free, and let’s be honest, free food always makes a school day better. Grab a drink, take a break, and enjoy.
February 23 – Crumbl Cookie Sale
The Crumbl Cookie Sale starts at 11 a.m. While these cookies aren’t free, they’re incredibly popular for a reason. There’s usually a long line whenever they’re being sold, so make sure you arrive early if you don’t want to miss out.
February 25 – Lunar New Year
This year celebrates the Year of the Horse, and students are encouraged to come out and show their support. The International Office works hard to put on this annual event, which features vibrant performances, cultural presentations, and delicious Chinese cuisine. A strong turnout always makes the celebration even more meaningful.
February – Vendor Market-Call Out
Throughout February there will be a vendor market call-out for Global Elegance, offering even more opportunities to engage with campus life.
One last thought:
I really want to emphasize that these are not the only events taking place — Students can also join clubs and unions and attend their February events as well. You get what you put into your university. So, join the CSA events and get the most out of your university experience.
