The Crochet and Craft Concordia Club (CACC)

Crocheting, colouring, and crafting — oh my! The Crochet and Craft Concordia Club (CACC) offers countless opportunities to learn or reconnect with a craft that you love. Not only does the club offer crochet lessons once a month, but it also hosts weekly workshops that students can drop in for. Previously, the club has offered workshops and events like miniature building, Legos, pipe cleaners, felt crafts, colouring, and a bead workshop.

“CACC is open to anyone who wants to relax, learn new skills or make friends. You don’t need to know crochet to join,” says CACC President Sofia Hoque, “We teach crochet once a month.”

While this club has been passed down to the current students, it was created with the overall goal of allowing students to make new friends and de-stress through crafting. “I joined the club because I was interested in learning new crafts and I was looking for a way to connect with people of like mind,” says CACC Vice-President Courage Adejumobi.

For the upcoming semester, the CACC will host a Valentine’s Sip and Paint event. They will also host their annual Spring Craft Sale and continue their weekly meetings. Additionally, Hoque explains that they are planning to create an art exchange in the coming semester – similar to a pen pal, which will allow students to interact with others through “the common thread of art.” For more information, students can visit their Instagram account.

“I have seen the positive impact this club has had on individuals on campus, who would otherwise not be able to engage in other clubs.” says Hoque, “We have worked with these individuals and resources on campus to help continue providing access.”

“Someone loved this club so much that they decided to make it a reality, so I would like to continue their mission of making new friends, learning new skills and de-stressing through crafting.”
